Summary: |
The proposed rule lists Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and Perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) as Vermont listed hazardous wastes; creates several exemptions from managing wastes containing PFOA and PFOS as hazardous waste; and restructures the process of listing Vermont specific hazardous wastes. |

Plastics manufacturers, firefighting organizations, wire coating industries, semiconductor industries, and other prior users of PFOA or PFOS. |

Economic Impact: |
Listing of PFOA and PFOS is necessary to ensure proper management of waste material and prevent improper disposal of wastes. Any release of hazardous materials is legally prohibited. The Agency does not have the legal authority to allow adverse health outcomes, such as cancer or adverse childhood developmental outcomes, based on the economic impact associated with adopting a standard. Economic impact of specific cleanup options are considered when selecting a final corrective action to remediate any release. |
